SK82K Sponsored Skate

A huge well done to everyone who took part this afternoon in our SK82K sponsored skate to raise money for the club’s Cash for Kids entry – you were all awesome!!! 👊👍😊

A big thank you too to Whitley Bay Ice Rink for their generosity in giving us the ice time we needed to complete the challenge!

We look forward to seeing people next week at our Quiz Night, Sun 12th Nov, 5-7pm for the Quiz, followed by an opportunity to socialise up until 9pm 😊

  1. Hi
Just a query in regards to the sponsored skate and cash for kids as this was now back in the beginning of November nearly 3months ago now I query this on behalf of myself and the majority of members and there family apart from the some of the money that was used towards the British championships that we know about what discussions have been made to benefit the skaters further it comes up many times in discussion between skaters and parents guardians etc but nobody actually directly asks the question to committee and nothing has actually been put on the website or any updates as it was club members skaters etc suggestions have been made that it should be out to those involved to have some input into what happens to the finds which were raised for this event and all the hard work to support the club would appreciate if you could give an update or post something onto the club website to inform members thankuou look forward to a reply .

    1. Thank you for your query regarding money raised for the Club. Even though fundraising events took place at the end of October/November 2017 we actually only received the funds from Cash for Kids mid December as it takes a while to process the payments.

As you are aware the money was used last year to fund the trip to The British and we are intending, funds allowing, to do the same again this year.

We have several activities and events that we are looking into trying to organise which, if possible, will be of huge benefit to our members. As soon as we have any definite information we will let our members know. The club also needs to fundraise to be able to hold our regular competitions as they cost a lot of money to run.

As always we welcome any suggestions from our members which will be considered by the committee – minutes from the AGM along with a full financial report are already on the website for anyone to take a look at. As there wasn’t a good attendance at the AGM from our members we have decided to discuss the matter further at the next Committee meeting, further information will follow on the website and any member who is 18 or over will be able to attend the meeting to discuss (this includes adult members and those with a family membership), junior members are also very welcome to put their suggestions in writing to be put before the committee for consideration. Letters should be sent to our club email address by end of January please – whitleybayisc@gmail.com.

Any decisions made by the committee, including how much to spend and what to spend it on, is always made for the good of all of our members. Any financial decisions are taken with a long term as well as short term view which will hopefully enable the club to carry on and support our skaters for as long as possible.

      Best Regards
      Whitley Bay Ice Skating Club
